Applying to federal jobs: what WorkWingman will and will not do¶

Hard product line¶
WorkWingman never uses login.gov for you and never clicks Submit on a federal application. Help means checklists, document prep, résumé structure, deep links, and manual status tracking.
Surprises worth knowing¶
- Federal résumés on USAJOBS are hard-capped at 2 pages under the Merit Hiring Plan. Longer uploads are rejected. Old “5–10 page federal résumé” advice is obsolete for USAJOBS.
- login.gov for USAJOBS is multi-factor sign-in, not full identity-proofing as the default apply gate.
- Apply is a two-system handoff: USAJOBS package → continue to the agency site for more questions and the real final submit.
- DD-214 “Member Copy 4” is not a universal requirement on every help page — checklist copy should say “if the announcement asks.”
- 10-point preference uses SF-15; a VA letter with the right facts may sometimes substitute per published guidance.
The five USAJOBS steps (package side)¶
Select resume → select documents → review package → include personal info → continue application with agency. Certifying on USAJOBS is not the final employment submission.
