How WorkWingman grows (plain version)¶
The detailed go-to-market and positioning doc is in ../business/gtm-positioning.md.
The most important rule¶
WorkWingman is the trusted, private helper for your job search — not a spam machine that blasts out hundreds of applications.
Some competitors brag about "applying to 1,500 jobs a day." That sounds impressive, but it floods employers, gets people banned, and earns a bad reputation. We choose the opposite: fewer, better, tailored applications — and total privacy. That trust is what lets us grow into bigger things later.
What we tell people¶
- It's yours. Your data lives on your computer. Not our cloud, not for sale.
- You're in control. It helps you apply — you decide and click submit.
- Quality, not spam. Better applications, not a thousand junk ones.
- No lock-in. Take your stuff anywhere; use your own AI key if you want.
- Built by someone who's been there. WorkWingman is a Black-owned business, built by a developer who has personally dealt with the broken side of job hunting. Putting the candidate first isn't a slogan — it's why the app exists. We mention this where it genuinely fits (our about page, partnerships, supplier-diversity programs), not as a sales trick.
How we find users and customers¶
- Word of mouth + privacy-minded communities. People who care about their data love the "it stays on your computer" story, and they tell others.
- Career coaches first. They're quick to say yes and they tell other coaches.
- Then a bootcamp and a college career center as showcase examples.
- Later, big partnerships — but only once tons of people already love the app.
Answering the tough questions¶
- "Isn't this just another spam bot?" — No. It never auto-submits, never scrapes, and works at a normal human pace, with you in control.
- "Is my data safe?" — It never leaves your computer unless you turn on backup, and even then it's locked so tightly we can't read it.
- "Why is it free?" — Because the job seeker is who we serve. We make money from optional extras and from coaches and schools — never from selling you.
