WorkWingman — Audio Overviews (Plain Language)

An optional feature: WorkWingman can turn a job's study material into a short spoken audio overview you can play or download — like a mini podcast about exactly what to study for this role, for the commute or the gym. It can also make simple background music for study sessions or a podcast intro.

What it does

  1. WorkWingman looks at the study material it already made for a job — the "what to brush up on" notes, the interview questions, your flashcards.
  2. An AI writes a short, friendly script that summarizes it — using only that material. It's told, firmly, not to make up facts, numbers, or company details that aren't there.
  3. A voice reads the script aloud into a real audio file. You get a play button and a download.

The free voice needs nothing — no key, no payment

The default voice is free and runs on your own computer. You don't need an account, an API key, or an internet connection for it. It just works. (On Windows it uses the built-in system voice until a higher-quality free voice model called Kokoro is downloaded; either way it's free and commercial-safe.)

If you'd like a fancier, more natural-sounding voice, you can plug in your own account with OpenAI, ElevenLabs, Google, or Amazon — those cost a little, charged to your account, never WorkWingman's. They're completely optional. No key → that voice simply doesn't appear, and the free one keeps working.

"This is an AI voice" — always said out loud

Every audio overview clearly tells you (and anyone who listens) that the voice is AI-generated, not a real person recording. That's shown right under the player and saved with the file. It's both honest and required by some of the voice providers.

About the music

The optional background-music feature is only available with a paid account you bring yourself (Stable Audio, Beatoven, ElevenLabs Music, or Google Lyria). We deliberately do not offer a free built-in music generator, because the free ones can't be legally used in anything you'd share or publish. The paid ones you choose come with proper commercial licenses. This keeps you safe if you ever put your study podcast anywhere public.

Nothing leaves your machine unless you choose a cloud voice

The free voice is entirely local — nothing about you is sent anywhere. If you pick a cloud voice, only the study script (the text to be read aloud) goes to the provider you chose, under your own key. The finished audio files are stored locally on your computer, and you can delete any of them anytime.
