Comparing company benefits without fake scores¶
Technical version: Company Benefits & Insurance Comparison
What this feature is for¶
When you are choosing between companies or offers, salary is only one column. This work extends WorkWingman’s existing benefits insight signals (carrier information and a limited public inclusion signal) into a fuller side-by-side benefits comparison for companies in your shortlist.
Honesty rules that never bend¶
- Every displayed benefit is sourced or explicitly “not on record.” A value with no citation is a build failure, not a soft empty cell.
- No single “AI benefits score.” Sparse, uneven fields blended into one number invent precision. Comparison informs; it does not rank your life.
- Rich plan details are mostly user-entered. There is no clean free legal feed of every employer’s PTO, premiums, and parental leave. Honest product shape: capture from your offer letter or the company’s public benefits page, with provenance — not “Glassdoor in a local cache.”
- Sensitive benefits (for example gender-affirming or family-forming offerings) are shown as company facts. Any matching against your situation stays on your machine with local profile data.
- Health cells keep a plan-vs-carrier caveat. A public inclusion flag is an employer-level signal, never a guarantee of a specific plan.
How data is modeled (plain version)¶
Each company gets a benefits profile that composes the older automated signals rather than overwriting them. Fields such as health plans, PTO, parental leave, family-forming support, retirement match, mental health support, and perks each carry:
- a value or a clear status (not on record / recorded / not offered / conflicting)
- citations (offer letter, official page, public index, and so on)
- confidence and how it was captured (typed by you, extracted from a document you pasted, or automated public signal)
- separate dates for when the fact was true vs when you captured it
Machine extraction from a pasted document is labeled as machine extraction — never dressed up as an official automated public feed.
What this is not¶
Not medical advice. Not a guarantee you will get a plan. Not a reason to skip reading the actual offer.
